COURCHEVEL 1850 THE RESORT
The centre of Courchevel 1850 is surprisingly uninspiring, with the lift base stations being surrounded by fairly non-descript buildings. Courchevel 1850 certainly lacks the charm of other big name resorts in the Alps such as Kitzbuhel, Zermatt or St Anton. And given the reputation that Courchevel 1850 enjoys, it is not overly apparent that Courchevel 1850 has some of the highest prices in the Alps. It is attractive and very convenient but the luxury and exclusivity is not readily apparent from first glance. Gaze over some restaurant menus and the nature of Courchevel 1850 becomes more obvious. Bar and restaurant terraces line the ski pistes and the altiport is an indicator that Courchevel 1850 attracts the rich.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Great slope-side luxury living
We don`t like:
No real charm aside from the chalets. The prices are laughable

COURCHEVEL 1850 RESORT INFORMATION
The accommodation in Courchevel 1850 is one of the main reasons that it is essentially an attractive resort. The central buildings do little to enhance the charm, but the numerous stone hotels and chalets that line the ski pistes are superb and stylish. Best of all many have immediate access to the slopes. It is reported that Roman Abramowich tried to buy an entire row of them in the most exclusive area – this time his money failed and he was refused.
