COURCHEVEL SKI HOLIDAYS

The ski holiday destination of Courchevel actually consists of several separate settlements and is part of the Trois Vallees (3 Valleys) ski region – the largest combined ski region in the world. The ski holiday resorts of Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz), Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 and Courchevel 1850 form to make the ski holiday destination of Courchevel. Socially, Courchevel operates like a pyramid, with Courchevel 1300, 1550 and 1650 open to all, whilst Courchevel 1850 is very much the reserve of the wealthy. Equality is somewhat restored as all the settlements have access to the superb ski area at Courchevel. The skiing in Courchevel (and La Tania) alone amount to an impressive 150km.

Courchevel 1850 continues to bolster its reputation as a seriously exclusive and expensive resort with the influx of rich Russains, resort prices that can almost seem fictitious, with a press machine that demands the trends are written about globally. Courchevel 1650 is a fairly attractive alternative to Courchevel 1850. it is quieter, lacks the Ritz of 1850, but remains full of character and accesses the same superb skiing as 1850.
