LES MENUIRES SKI HOLIDAYS

For those seeking a ski holiday resort boasting all the charm of a 1970’s polytechnic campus, then Les Menuires is hard to beat. The resort aside, Les Menuires offers budget access in to the biggest and most popular ski area in the whole of France. It has excellent access to the slopes and at a height of 1800m has a very good snow record. Continuing with the positives, the resort centre has good access to the lifts and the beginners ski area, whilst more recent development has been undertaken in a more sympathetic manner without losing the good link between the slopes and the accommodation. Val Thorens is the neighbouring village and and those appalled by the misadventures of an architect in Les Menuires will find little relief in Val Thorens.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
Great value for 3 Valleys ski holidays

Bad  We don`t like:
Possibly the least attractive resort in the Alps

Have your say on Les Menuires

LES MENUIRES SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The 3 Valleys is rated as the best linked ski region in France and has some of the most popular resorts in Meribel and Courchevel. These resorts are pricey though and this is where Les Menuires comes into its own. It has great (if not totally central) access to The 3 Valleys ski region and neighbours Val Thorens for the highest and best snow. The skiing is mostly intermediate but t The 3 Valleys has skiing for all abilities. It seems that the message has finally got through and Les Menuires is undergoing a makeover. Stone and wood are replacing the concrete and a level of charm is arriving at one or two locations. One of the most hideous blocks has been completely removed. There is great access to the slopes from most of Les Menuires.

Good access to the slopes and a pretty decent kids ski area in the centre of the resort. Less to do after dark.

There are a couple of bars deep in the caverns of Les Menuires but apres ski is not great.
