MORZINE THE RESORT
The resort of Morzine has exploded in size in recent decades. That said, Morzine is in the heart of a farming community and the resort had a purpose before skiing arrived. The centre of the village that runs alongside the river (that dissects the resort) is bustling and hosts weekly markets. And whilst the resort has seen huge growth over the years the development in Morzine has been low-rise. The result has been for Morzine to retain its charm, although the village / resort is now a considerable size, end to end. That has had the effect of making Morzine pretty difficult to get around from distant accommodation although ski buses run through the resort and much of the accommodation offers transfers and taxi services.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Great atmosphere, après ski and attractive low-rise resort
We don`t like:
Morzine is drawn out along the valley

MORZINE RESORT INFORMATION
There are 2 main lifts leaving Morzine to access the Le Pleney area (one of which is reserved for ski schools) and one lift leaves the resort on the other side of the village and accesses Avoriaz. There is also a lift leaving the margins of Morzine that accesses Nyon although this is very much a ski bus ride from most of the accommodation in Morzine. The year round nature of Morzine ensures that it is does not have the ‘dead’ feeling towards the end and at the start of the season and helps create the impressive atmosphere in the resort.
