SAMOENS SKI HOLIDAYS

Samoens offers one of the most attraction locations for a ski holiday in France. The village is wonderful, atmospheric and authentic – several attributes that escape most French ski resorts. Whilst the village is not the most convenient for the Grand Massif ski area, the lift from just outside the village accesses the ski area of Samoens and the Grand Massif ski area beyond. Also Samoens has a satellite village that is far better located a 1600m and in the heart of the Samoens ski area. Unfortunately, what this outpost gains in convenience, it certainly loses in charm; the aesthetic difference between the villages is stark. Guests have a very clear alternative between atmosphere and convenience and in that sense, Samoens great choice.

REVIEW RESORT AND WIN

SAMOENS SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The valley village of Samoens (720m) is wonderful and atmospheric but lacks a direct lift to the ski area from the village. Samoens 1600 is the satellite resort that is situated in the heart of the ski area and has excellent access to the slopes, if less than excellent architecture. Both resorts have something to recommend them. Après ski in Samoens is lively with numerous bars and restaurants located around the village square. Families rule Samoens and the neighbouring villages but there is plenty to entertain other groups. The atmosphere in Samoens is civilised and families mix with groups around the village.
