SERRE CHEVALIER SKI HOLIDAYS

The ski holiday resort of Serre Chevalier is located in the forests of the Southern Alps and has a growing reputation and appeal. Serre Chevalier is actually made up of 4 ski holidays resorts: Briançon Serre Chevalier, Chantemerle Serre Chevalier, Villeneuve Serre Chevalier and Monêtier Serre Chevalier. These villages that make up Serre Chevalier are spread along the valley and each have lifts leaving the ski holiday resorts. The ski holiday villages in Serre Chevalier range between 1200 and 1500m and have a good top height of around 2800m. Serre Chevalier has an impressive weather record with reports of up to 300 sunny days per year to complement the ski terrain which totals around 250km of ski pistes.

SERRE CHEVALIER SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The skiing in Serre Chevalier is best suited to beginners and intermediates with tree-lined pistes above the holiday resorts and more open skiing and snowboarding terrain higher up. There are 13 villages (4 of them dominant) that make up Serre Chevalier. In general the resorts are authentic, attractive and offer a distinct change from the purpose built resorts in France. Après ski in Serre Chevalier is quiet, especially compared to others in the region such as Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d’Huez. The resorts have bars but the dislocation does little for the atmosphere.

Greta for intermediate and advanced skiers. Huge terrian and nice and varied. ONly lacking aspect is steeps - there aren't any easily accesible steeps. The black graded runs aren't hard enough to be black in my opinion.

Very very expensive in 2009 with a weak pound. Mountainside restaurant prices were extortionate.

Not great for nightlife. Limited choice and no centre of activity.

Went with a ski club with lots of different levels of abilities and everyone seemed happy. Some people also did cross country skiing.

Felt that it was quite compact and easy to get around. We stayed in a Youth Hostel where drinks were cheaper but felt generally that prices weren't bad.
