TIGNES FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS
So long as the family group does not include any budding architects then Tignes has some merit as a family ski holiday destination. Charm and resort atmosphere you can forget, but convenience and snow quality are as good as any resorts in the French Alps. The ski pistes and lifts are at the door of much of the accommodation in Tignes whilst those staying in Tignes le Lac and Le Lavachet have impressive beginners areas; the learners area at Val Claret is a little steeper and less appealing as a result. Traffic is getting better in Tignes and there are a number of outdoor activities to engage in during the evening. Indoor there are not great options and Val d'Isere down the valley has a wider choice of facilities.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Great access to the slopes from the accommodation in Tignes
We don`t like:
All skiing is above the tree-line meaning poor visibility in bad weather

TIGNES FAMILY SKI INFORMATION
Skiing in Tignes and the Espace Killy ski region that is shared with Val d'Isere is pretty good for families. There is a variety of terrain and endless intermediate cruisers. The height of the resort and top lift in Tignes ensure superb snow reliability but the only place you will likely see a tree is embroidered on the back of a one-piece suit. The area is dramatic but desolate and when the weather closes in the visibility can be atrocious.
