BARDONECCHIA SKI HOLIDAYS
The ski holiday resort of Bardonecchia is located in the far west of Italy, close to the French border. Bardonecchia is situated very close to the Frejus Tunnel for access to and from France and is also an easy drive from Turin. As a result Bardonecchia is a popular weekend spot. With Olympic legacy from the 2006 Turin Winter Games, Bardonecchia offers some 140km of ski and snowboard pistes and a decent number of lifts. The skiing and snowboarding greatly favours the beginner or intermediate with very little for better skiers or snowboarders. The top lift height ensures some fairly reliable snow, whilst there is extensive snow making across the lower and bigger main ski area.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Fair sized area and reasonable top height, good access from France and Turin
We don`t like:
The good access can make the place crowded on weekends. Bardonecchia far from being a ski-in, ski-out resort.

BARDONECCHIA SKI HOLIDAY INFO
The skiing in Bardonecchia is broken into two sections that are spread across the valley. Accessing the ski areas from accommodation in Bardonecchia often involves a bus ride although it is possible to stay at Les Arnauds or Melezet, both areas offering lifts into the biggest section of the Bardonecchia ski area. Campo Smith is the base station that accesses the relatively lowly Colomion area. All these sections are lift and ski piste linked. The higher and alternative area of Jafferau is located on the other side of the valley and offers skiing with a creditable top height of 2750m. The skiing across the whole Bardonecchia area is a mixture of tree-lined and open skiing and snowboarding, whilst the terrain greatly favours beginners and intermediates.
