LA THUILE SKI HOLIDAYS

Many will be familiar with the Italian ski holiday resort of La Thuile, having accessed or seen it from the French ski resort of La Rosiere, which it shares a ski pass with. Located in the far west of Italy on the French border, the ski holiday resort of La Thuile is broken into 2 parts, an old attractive village and the modern ‘Planibel’ sector. The Planibel sector is best situated for the slopes with ready access to the gondola and chair. It also has modern shopping and entertainment facilities but lacks the charm of the old sector of La Thuile. The skiing best suits beginners and intermediates although off-piste is rated as pretty good whilst heli skiing operates in the area.

Little advanced terrain, whilst the lower slopes will be too tough for beginners

LA THUILE SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The skiing in La Thuile is geared toward beginners and intermediates with just some 15% of ski terrain classified as black. The skiing takes place on both tree-lined ski pistes as well as above the tree line. From La Thuile it is possible to ski or snowboard over into France and the ski holiday resort of La Rosiere that shares a ski pass with La Thuile. Despite the skiable terrain suiting beginners and intermediates, the skiing suited these groups is located above the mid-station with the most challenging terrain located above La Thuile and on the ski pistes back into the resort. It is possible to download on the gondola back to La Thuile for those uncomfortable with the demanding terrain but this feature is certainly one of the drawbacks to the La Thuile ski area.
