NISEKO SKI HOLIDAYS
The ski holiday resort of Niseko is one of the best known and international ski holiday resorts in Japan. Located in the northern island of Hokkaido, Niseko has its skiing spread across 3 ski areas that are linked at the peak. Volcanoes dot the horizon whilst the snow fall is reckoned to be almost non-stop through the winter until late February during most years. The powder skiing and snowboarding in Niseko is legendary. The skiing in Niseko is spread across 3 areas, those of Niseko Hirafu, Niseko Higashiyama, and Niseko An-nupuri. There is a real mix of terrain and unlike Furano, the other big ski holiday resort in the region, access to the off-piste terrain is more relaxed in Niseko, with a gate system operated allowing access to areas that are deemed safe at the time.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Large ski area, with great snow record
We don`t like:
Influx of foreigner visiotrs has meant the Japanese feel has been dulled slightly

NISEKO SKI HOLIDAY INFO
As well as the skiing being divided into three separate areas, these areas are served by different areas of the resort including Niseko Hirafu, Niseko Higashiyama, and Niseko An-nupuri. The largest of these by some way is Niseko Hirafu, which has a ski-in, ski-out area of the resort although some accommodation is more of a walk away. Niseko Hirafu has the most western feel to it with a good number of Australian visitors through the winter and offers a mix of ski terrain. Niseko Higashiyama is smaller than Niseko Hirafu although is seeing some substantial development and offers more advanced ski and snowboard terrain. Niseko An-nupuri is a totally ski-in, ski-out ski holiday resort.
