CRANS-MONTANA SKI HOLIDAYS
The two ski holiday resorts of Crans and Montana that make up the ski holiday destination of Crans-Montana are known for their sunny location and superb scenery. Intermediate and beginner skiers and snowboarders do best with little other than off-piste action for the more advanced. Glacier skiing is also offered at Crans-Montana. Crans tends to be the more upmarket of the 2 ski holiday resorts and whilst they are 2 separate entities, in reality the resorts merge to from one resort with 2 centres. Both Crans and Montana have lifts accessing the combined ski area of Crans-Montana at the Cry d’ Er mid-station. The skiing at Crans-Montana stretches above the neighbouring villages of Les Barzettes and Aminona.
CRANS-MONTANA SKI HOLIDAY INFO
The 140km of ski pistes at Crans-Montana are very much suited to the beginner or intermediate skier or snowboarder. Given that beginners are less likely to cover too much ground early on, the third of the ski area that is rated as easy in Crans-Montana is a huge beginners resource. Intermediates have half of the ski area classified for them and it is only the advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders who will be scratching around for terrain. Those looking for more challenging terrain in Crans-Montana will need to venture off-piste after exhausting the limited steeps. Crans-Montana boasts a glacier and given the sunny aspect that Crans-Montana enjoys, this is a welcome guarantee of snow.
THE GOOD, THE BAD
We like:
Pretty, sunny villages with skiing best suited to intermediates and beginners
We don`t like:
Little for the better skiers or snowboarders, strong sun can affect the lower slope snow
