SAAS FEE SKI HOLIDAYS

Saas Fee is the near neighbour of Zermatt and shares a ski pass and much of the staggering scenery with its neighbour. The skiing and snowboarding in Saas Fee is high altitude and there is glacier terrain to ensure a snow guarantee and long season. Similar to Zermatt, Saas Fee is car fee and extremely charming. With a resort height of 1800m, a top lift height of 3500m and a good deal of peak winter shade, the snow conditions can be fantastic. Unlike Zermatt the ski lifts and runs leave and return to a fairly compact area so there is less need for resort transfers to access the skiing resources. Saas Fee is immaculate and attractive but slightly less touristy than Zermatt, although the skiing can not quite compete with its legendary neighbour.

SAAS FEE SKI HOLIDAY INFO

The skiing in Saas Fee is characterised by high altitude, tree-less terrain that includes glacier skiing and departure and arrival points from the ski holiday resort that can make for fairly easy commutes (depending on the location of accommodation). Glacier skiing from the Allalin top lift ensures both long seasons and great snow quality. The 100km of skiing and snowboarding terrain is best suited to intermediates with half of the terrain classified as red. Beginners do pretty well with a quarter and given their limited needs this is often quite ample. There is little to test the better skiers and boarders despite the quarter of all terrain classified as black. And despite the height often giving excellent snow conditions it also provides crevasses and real danger.
