WENGEN SKI HOLIDAYS

With views onto the Eiger and Jungfrau, Wengen has some of the most dramatic and iconic scenery of any alpine destination. As well as being famous for its scenery, Wengen hosts one of the classic FIS downhill races and remains one of the most famous alpine destinations in the world. There are more convenient and better ski areas than Wengen, but Wengen has developed a loyal following amongst those who marvel at the scenery, enjoy the intermediate dominated terrain and remain satisfied by the slow and traditional way of getting up the mountain; either by mountain railway or cable car. Despite the towering local peaks, Wengen has a modest top lift height of 2485m.

WENGEN SKI HOLIDAY INFO

Wengen is mostly car free, is accessed via mountain railway from the valley and is a compact ski holiday resort. Access to the skiing is via either the mountain railway or cable car and both options are reasonably well located for much of the accommodation in Wengen. The skiing in Wengen and Grindelwald amounts to some 160km of mainly intermediate skiing although Wengen is part of the Jungfrau region ski area and shares a ski pass covering over 200km of ski pistes. The lengthy and sometimes extremely steep FSI ski run is one of the attractions for the better skiers although there is really little to test the better skiers and snowboarders in Wengen.

THE GOOD, THE BAD

Good  We like:
Wengen has stunning scenery and resort charm
