ZERMATT SKI HOLIDAYS

Amongst the best, if not the best ski resort in the Alps. Zermatt has the highest skiing in the Alps, very probably the most jaw dropping scenery, the village is impeccable and atmospheric and after a day of skiing or boarding you can join the many who are throwing the drinks down. The lift system is extensive and glacier skiing ensures total snow reliability. To top it all you can ski over into Italy for a few hours. The downside – the lower slopes are not ideal for beginners, the ski-out is often a good trek, although ski-in is great, with as many skiers on the main street as pedestrians at times and Zermatt has a reputation for being expensive. Zermatt is expensive when you go after the best accommodation but there are also good value alternatives.

With a top ski lift height of over 3800m Zermatt is certainly snow-sure. Glacier skiing ensures great snow reliability and the ski pistes stretch far out into the distance. Improved lift connections have drawn the ski area together better. Zermatt is pedestrianised throughout but for the electric ski buses and taxis carts. The main street, Bahnhofstrasse is the central artery and contains many of the bars, restaurants and accommodation. Zermatt is as pretty and immaculate as you will find anywhere.
