HINTERTUX GLACIER FAMILY SKI HOLIDAYS

Whilst there are numerous facilities for kids on the Hintertux Glacier, neither Hintertux the resort, nor Hintertux Glacier the ski area are truly ideal for family holidays. Hintertux itself has a number of impressive and well equipped hotels but outside of these the ski holiday resort has less on offer in terms of facilities or atmosphere than other ski holiday resorts further down the valley. The ski area is also not optimal, the ski lifts taking guests to the ski area are impressive with the ‘Glacier Bus’ 3 stage gondola as good as you will find anywhere, being both comfortable and able to operate in poor weather. However the Hintertux Glacier is generally steeper than most other glacier skiing areas in Austria, with beginner skiing pretty limited.

HINTERTUX GLACIER FAMILY SKIING

Within the Zillertal 3000 ski region there are other, possibly better options for family ski holidays than the Hintertux Glacier. Just down the valley is Tux–Lanersbach, a small and traditional ski holiday resort that access the Eggalm section of the Zillertal 3000 area. The skiing is better suited to and offers more variety for family ski holidays. Finkenberg is another option, slightly further from the Hintertux Glacier but a compact resort with lifts accessing the highly impressive Penken ski area. Mayrhofen is another resort that shares a pass with the Hintertux Glacier and offers a superbly equipped ski holiday resort with access to the Penken ski area but also the Ahorn region which is ideal for families.
